The Forest Thread

I, Moon, want to tell you a story that happened in a faraway place…

In that village, there was a small workshop, hidden among the streets of an ancient city. It was a magical space where fabrics came to life.

In those days, there was a woman who, since childhood, had learned the art of sewing from her grandmother, a wise artisan. She possessed a special gift: she could capture the essence of nature in every thread and fabric. With her hands, she intertwined the magic of plants and the earth into every piece she created.

One day, while gathering herbs in the forest, she discovered a special golden thread that sprang from the roots of an ancient tree. This thread, which contained the wisdom of the earth, could reveal people’s destinies.

Amazed by her discovery, she began to create garments with this magical material, using fabrics woven from plant fibers and dyed with pigments extracted from flowers and fruits. Each piece was a work of art, with colors that evoked the richness of the forests, the tranquility of the lakes, and the beauty of the fields. Those who wore them felt deeply connected to nature and found their place in the cycle of life.

Soon, news of these magical garments spread around the world. People from all corners of the planet flocked to the small workshop, eager to experience the transformation these creations promised.

However, when the thread fell into the wrong hands of a sorcerer who wished to manipulate the destinies of others, the artisan knew she had to act. She embarked on a quest to retrieve the thread and prevent it from being used for malicious purposes.

Throughout her journey, she ventured into secret forests and climbed the highest mountains, seeking the help of nature spirits. With their guidance, she recovered the thread and, with it, the balance between people’s destinies.

Back in her workshop, the artisan continued creating garments, but this time with a new purpose: to remind everyone that we are part of the great web of life, connected with nature and the universe itself. Her creations became a symbol of the harmony and wisdom of the earth, inviting each person to find their own path in tune with the planet.

Some of her creations still exist, despite the years. It is said that if you find them and listen carefully, you will hear the whisper of the leaves and the song of the birds, like an invitation to let the magic of nature guide the thread of your own destiny.

Process

At Loona, we are proud to present our Collaboration 38 with Electric Feathers, a brand that offers designs that are both functional and timeless.

Founded by Leana Zuniga, who grew up appreciating the process of creating something from nothing alongside her seamstress grandmother, Electric Feathers is inspired by life itself and the essence of the feelings it seeks to recreate or celebrate.

Our Collaboration with Electric Feathers is an exploration of versatility and timelessness, with conceptual infinite rope pieces that transform and wrap to adapt to the body, inviting the wearer to participate and engage their imagination with the endless possibilities.

The sculptural silhouettes have become modern staples, ideal for travel, as they can be worn as dresses or skirts, from day to night, and are suitable for any season.

With an avant-garde aesthetic that evokes the era of Maya Deren, Jean Cocteau, Man Ray, and the Ballets Russes, the brand’s pieces are timeless and carry the personal touch of those who create them. Inspiration arises from memories of times, places, and musical movements that Leana has experienced, as well as the emotion she wants to convey through her designs.

Many of the carefully selected natural fabrics are rare raw silks, metallic silks, peace silks, khadi, tussah, and hand-woven cottons. All made locally with love and care by their partners. In an increasingly disposable world, each Electric Feathers piece is a unique treasure, designed to be coveted and kept.

To create, Leana needs a combination of silence, meditation, music, and disconnection, elements that allow her to immerse herself in her creative process. As she states, “I suspect that people will want more pieces with a trace of the human hand, where someone’s personal soul touched and cared for the fabric or object, where there is consciousness, rather than just a machine.”

For 15 years, the brand has stayed true to its values, without compromising the quality of its fabrics or contributing to the industry’s immense waste. They work with deadstock fabrics and support manufacturers who use natural processes, such as khadi and peace silk (processed without killing the silkworm), to seek innovations that recycle natural fabrics in a better way.

For Leana, the most important thing in sustainable design is “staying true to values at all costs, through thick and thin.” This involves working with people whose values are aligned and who genuinely care about the people and the project.

In a world where everything we do must be in service of life, Electric Feathers strives to create with respect and awareness of the gift we have been given. As Leana says, “I believe we are our own jury, and everything we do has its own consequences.”
