The magic garden

I, Moon,  want to tell you the story of two peasants who lived in a forest, several centuries ago.

They were a unique couple. They had the ability to paint and bring to life flowers that were never seen before. She would paint her own flowers on a white canvas on an easel, while he dedicated himself to researching and reading books of ancient magic to materialize those visions.

One day they discovered how to bring these images to life, using alchemical techniques. The flowers they imagined were of indescribable beauty, with colors that shone with their own light; petals that seemed to move to the rhythm of an imaginary music and aromas that evoked memories of places never visited before.

After materializing them, they began to plant them in their garden. Soon, the place became a sanctuary. A place full of unique flowers, capable of awakening the consciousness of human beings.

Visitors came from afar to walk among the field of magical flowers and, in the process, understand the interconnection between life, imagination, and nature.

The couple firmly believed that their work was not just an act of creation, but a form of service. They saw each flower as a message from the earth, a reminder of the importance of living in harmony with nature and with every living being.

Today, this place full of magic only lives in my memory, but I was a witness to a time when, with love and dedication, it was possible to create a unique world where beauty, consciousness, and harmony flourished in every corner.

Today, I believe I have found the people who can continue with that mission, although I reserve their names to protect them until the right time comes.

Process

At Loona, we are excited to introduce Collaboration 35, a project where we have once again invited Sono, the British independent and sustainable fashion brand that has been with us since our sixth Collaboration.

This time, we present a selection of pieces from the Spring/Summer 2024 collection. Through these garments, Stephanie Oberg and Simon Homes take us on a journey where the classic elements of spring are reinvented from a new perspective.

“As designers, floral prints and pink are always popular and commercial during the summer season, but they have been used so much that there is no longer a sense of appreciation for nature nor wonder,” they reflect.

This collection seeks to revive that classic element but presents it in unexpected ways. “We wanted to simply address flowers and pink and show them our love and appreciation in a Sono way. The pink shades are much more direct and can easily be seen as optimistic fresh highlights, while the flowers were more subtle,” the designers comment.

The creative process behind the collection is equally fascinating. “We started the process by painting our favorite flowers in watercolor. Then we went to Como, in Italy, to a traditional family printer we know well and have worked with many times over the years, and asked them to make a print on organic cotton. We made them weave it as tight as possible so it would feel compact, crispy, and give a sculptural silhouette.”

This process led them to explore new ways in which fashion combines with sustainability. “We used a new environmentally friendly printing technique using natural pigments with a lot of pressure to push the ink as far into the cotton as possible; something that is very difficult to achieve,” they explain.

This technique was used on some floral prints which appear with a marked minimalist style, as they affirm: “We intentionally chose minimalist styles for the prints to give the pieces attitude and longevity. They are flowers, but they are not precious, and can be worn every day and styled easily in many different ways.”

For Loona, the launch of this Collaboration during the spring could not be more timely. The pink tones and floral prints will resonate with those looking to reflect the beauty of nature, while making a conscious statement about their commitment to our planet by choosing more sustainable dressing options.

This is a way in which we wish to inspire you to enjoy the most out of a season whose presence is already undeniable because, as the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda said, “You can cut all the flowers, but you will never stop the spring.”

Welcome.

SONO SPRING SUMMER 2024

So much time, effort and research is put into the best possible ways to sustainably and responsibly source, design and make Sono’s clothes, and it is an ongoing process. Their dream is to make clothes that will improve with age and survive lifetimes. Sono is passionate about vintage clothing because it has a certain soul like quality that rarely exists in new clothes, most of this comes down to how the fabric was woven and the seams were sewn. Their design and pattern cutting is forward looking and directional, however there are certain points that are always respected about how seams have been sewn over the last 100 years. They carefully develop fabrics with mills they know, trust and share the same view on how the fabric is woven; it ages beautifully.

Always, always take care of this beautiful clothing (if you are lucky enough to have them) so they can last generations. They are made with this in mind and heart.

“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage — to move in the opposite direction“. – E.F. Schumacher, Small Is Beautiful.
