The Forest Dresses
I, Moon, want to tell you about a couple who lived in the forest, whom nature loved so deeply that it would clothe them as a gift.
I found them one night while I was lighting the trees. They lived in a small house in the valley.
One day, something extraordinary began to happen. It was an afternoon when, tired after a long walk, they lay down on the grass. The grass felt them, recognized them as part of itself. It wrapped around them and began to weave. When they woke, they were wearing wide trousers made of grasses — soft as cotton, strong as linen.
The next day, they embraced an old oak that had stood in the same place for centuries. The tree, moved by the love it felt in that embrace, enveloped them in its bark. But the bark turned soft, pliable. When they stepped away from the trunk, they were wearing jackets made of something that looked like wood but moved like cloth.
Later they waded into a river. The water recognized them as friends who had never troubled it. It wrapped around them, and when they stepped out, they were wearing boots woven from river algae — perfect for walking through the forest.
The animals played their part too. Birds brought threads from their nests to stitch the garments. Bees formed buttons from pure wax.
The couple understood that nature dressed them because they respected it. They never took more than they needed. They never caused it harm. They always gave back what they received.
They decided to share this gift with the world. They traveled to places where other artisans also listened to nature. Together they made clothes that carried the spirit of the forest.
The people who wore these garments felt something strange: as though nature were holding them even in the middle of the city. As though the river ran beneath their feet even far from any water. As though nature recognized them as family.
I watch them every night. The forest still dresses them. They still make clothes that carry that same love. And the people who wear them carry with them a piece of the forest — a reminder that nature is part of all of us.
Process
This month we present Colaboración 59 with SONO, the collaborative project between Stephanie Oberg and Simon Homes that has become a returning presence at Loona.
We’ve worked with them before, and we come back to their world because their approach to sustainability is exactly what we look for: an independent British label that proves designer clothing can be fully conscious without sacrificing aesthetics.
Stephanie Oberg, a German designer whose background includes Kostas Murkudis and Cacharel, founded Von Sono in 2004. Simon Homes, a British designer who has worked at Lemaire, Paul Smith, and The Row, officially joined the brand in 2019. Together they built a model that leads by example and takes on the core challenges of garment manufacturing head-on.
SONO holds a clear vision: to express their own aesthetic while addressing ethical and environmental concerns. Every step in making their garments has been thought through from a practical, ethical, and conscious standpoint—minimizing environmental impact without compromising quality.
For this collaboration with Loona, SONO brings a selection from their Spring-Summer 2026 collection into a world of blues: Bluestone from naturally pigment-dyed denim, Navy Floral from eco-printed poplin, Ocean from irregular satin. Blues that work together, that pair with each other and with what you already own.
“True sustainability comes when you buy something and it lasts a lifetime,” says Stephanie.
That philosophy shapes every piece in the collection. The selection includes jeans, joggers, jackets, dresses, trousers, and the iconic Bombo Bag, available in three sizes for different needs. All pieces are built around three core materials: denim woven in Lombardy with visible seeds, dyed with natural pigments and no chemical fixatives; floral poplin eco-printed with water-based inks on Lake Como; and irregular satin in Tencel and linen, woven in Tuscany.
The cotton is 100% organic and GOTS-certified. The Tencel comes from FSC-certified wood fiber processed to high clean-water standards. The printing processes use eco-friendly inks. Natural dyeing creates irregular, one-of-a-kind color on every garment.
SONO’s silhouette is relaxed and oversized, with curved seams that follow the body’s movement. This is clothing made for living in. The pockets actually work, the construction holds up, the cuts let you move.
Every piece shares the same commitment: GOTS-certified organic cotton, natural dyeing or eco inks, manufacturing in Italy with mills that uphold high production standards. SONO works with suppliers they’ve maintained long-term relationships with—relationships built, and proven, on mutual trust.
Rounding out the selection is a hat by Norte, the Mexican brand created by Tato Ponso: a woven cotton piece that can be worn in different ways, opening up new possibilities in how you put things together. Made in a color that speaks to the rest of the collection, it came from a shared love of design and the simple desire to make something together for the pleasure of it.
With these pieces, SONO and Norte keep showing us that sustainable fashion is the only responsible way to create. When every process has been considered from an ethical and conscious perspective, the result is clothing that works, that lasts, that respects both the people who wear it and the world we all live in.
